David Price has been the main source of stability in what has been a roller coaster season so far for the Detroit Tigers. Price dominated the Cleveland Indians Friday night and tossed a complete game shutout that required only 93 pitches.

It was the second straight start in which Price has gone the distance, as he has given up just one earned run in his last 18 innings to go along with 19 strikeouts and two walks. The Tigers have leaned on Price all season and are taking full advantage of his ability to go deep into ballgames. Because of this, Price currently ranks second in the majors with 92.1 innings pitched.
Price has been one of the hottest starting pitchers in baseball lately as he has logged 39.1 innings to go along with a 3-1 record, 1.15 earned run average, 40 strikeouts and eight walks in his last five starts.
Price has been crucial to the Tigers’ success so far and has been one of the few bright spots in a struggling starting rotation. Aside from Alfredo Simon, the rest of the rotation has not done much to help the Tigers win games this season. That may change soon however, with Justin Verlander set to return to action on Saturday.
On the season, Price is 6-2 with a 2.44 ERA and according to mlb.com projections, he is on pace to finish 14-8 with a 2.94 ERA.
Detroit is currently in the middle of a tight race in the American League Central and will probably continue to rely on Price to go the distance in more games to come.
